When Faith Feels Quiet | Honest Faith When You Can’t Find the Words

There are seasons when faith feels quiet.
You try to pray, but the words just won’t come. You try to worship, but you don’t feel anything. You open your Bible, hoping something will stir your heart, and instead it feels like you’re just turning pages.

Leanna Crawford’s song “Honest” captures that exact space — the one between wanting to feel close to God and wondering why He feels so far away. It’s the space where we whisper, “God, I’m trying… I just don’t have the words right now.”

But here’s the truth: God is not absent in the silence.

He’s not disappointed when your worship sounds more like a whisper than a shout. He’s not waiting for a polished prayer before He listens. He’s already there — steady, present, and faithful — even when your emotions can’t catch up.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
Psalm 34:18

Sometimes the most honest form of worship is simply showing up. Sitting in the stillness. Whispering His name through tears. Taking one deep breath and saying, “I’m still here, Lord.”

Faith isn’t about how strong we feel. It’s about who we’re holding on to when we don’t.
Even when your heart is quiet, He’s still in control.
Even when you can’t find the words, the Spirit intercedes for you with groans too deep for words (Romans 8:26).

Even when it feels like you’re standing in the dark, God’s promise still stands: “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

So if this is your season of silence, take heart. You’re not alone.
Keep being honest with God — He can handle it. Keep showing up, even in small ways. Open your Bible. Play the worship song. Sit in His presence.

Honesty is still worship.
Stillness is still surrender.
And God is still faithful.

Let your honesty become your offering today. He sees you. He hears you.
And He’s still right there — working in the silence, speaking through the quiet, holding every piece of your heart.
